Dr Anil Chettri: My brother is interested in Hotel management sector and has completed his graduation in English Honours but only issue is his age which is around 29 Years which I believe is a important factor in hospitality industry, which might hinder his employment opportunities. I would be highly obliged if you could send me list of Colleges offering Post Graduate Diploma in Hospitality / Hotel Management around West Bengal. There are two more institutes who offer the similar courses but do not participate with us in the survey.
As these two institutes are not our participants, we are not in a position to provide you any details about them. However, IAM,Kolkata and BNG, Kolkata, have been participating in the survey. Ans.: At the outset, we will advice you to complete your graduation from a good college after completing your schooling. Even for a CBSE exam, you should do well to get admission in a good college. Your performance record in CBSE as well as the graduate college are also taken into consideration for admission in MBA .We will advice you to go for MBA and not for BBA if you want a good long term career prospect. Ans.: Both the programs have two years duration. PGDM stands for Post Graduate Diploma in Management and is awarded by an autonomous institute or private institutes affiliated to AICTE. PGDM has more flexibility in teaching techniques and contents, and also have a different fee structure which is generally higher than a MBA program. (All IIM’s provide PG diploma in PGDM). MBA is the degree which is awarded by the Indian Universities recognized by UGC who are members of Association of Indian Universities. You have a wide range of choice to make in an MBA program depending upon your interest and strength. Since you are a student of Medical Biotechnology, you should go for MBA in the same area or marketing (which will eventually open opportunities for you in the Pharmaceutical industry).There are many good B School in India and you can select on the basis of our survey report.
